Hi Parents,
I just wanted to make you all aware of a cause that I am passionate about and that I've recently undertaken. I'm hoping together with the help and generosity of others to make a real difference in the rehabilitation and growth of children with Autism (including that of my own son). Feel free to visit the link below:

Student Homework
Hello Gr. 3 Parents/Guardians,
As many of you already know, we have been studying government systems in action in our Gr. 3 class. We have been doing this by discussing democracy (in Social Studies) and by having student elections for a class president as well.
As such, we are in the midst of a new class president election. Students have been asked to conduct some research on our 4 countries (Peru, Ukraine, Tunisia & India). The websites that they will need to use have been posted on the blog below. Once the students have discovered something new and interesting that they didn't know before they can conduct some research on that topic using any websites or resources they may like. Students have been instructed that parents can help with the research portion only. Students are to independently write a 1 page report on their interesting fact. From there, we will have a class vote on who did the best write up. This activity will not be done for summative marks.
On a separate subject, students have been asked to use their skills of inquiry to make a musical instrument of any kind. I know many of you know about this already but I felt this would be a fun way to learn more about Hearing & Sound and let the students think critically themselves. They will be marked on creativity and overall effort.
Thanks for all you do!
Mr. H.

Harlem Shake
Ok Gr. 3's and Gr. 3 Parents/Guardians,
Here's what I know many of you have been waiting for. For our class Easter party we decided to copy a huge YouTube fad right now and make our very own Gr. 3 Harlem Shake video. I think it was a lot of fun and the kids sure enjoyed it. Brace yourself, its silly but a little bit of silly goes a long way in motivating these energetic young kids.
Happy watching......

Rocks & Minerals
Hi Parents,
I hope you all enjoyed a great Christmas vacation and enjoyed having some time with your kids. I am enjoying having them back. We've had a great week thus far! One of the new topics that we're starting new this week is in Science. Its our Rocks & Minerals Unit. Students seem very excited about it and thus far we've enjoyed some neat videos, computer searches and even some investigation of rock kits. Going forward we will have some fun labs, and other Science Inquiry sessions to learn more about Geology, and the Rock Cycle. In order to allow your children to investigate some neat things while at home, I'm attaching some fun links with some videos, games and other resources. Enjoy!
